Phobias and Fears
Have you ever experienced an inexplicable and irrational fear of an object or a situation and got overwhelmed by it? You may get fearful when you come across a snake, or dread standing in a balcony on the second floor of a building. Others might feel that you chicken out too easily and make fun of you, but little do they know the intensity of the trauma you have to undergo every single time.
Most phobias develop from a plethora of complexities, and from the challenges presented by the experiences we’ve had in our life. Some fears are born out of the beliefs and thoughts that have been fixed in our mindset since a very young age. We’ve read and heard again and again that snakes are poisonous, and that this is the reason why many of us go numb when we encounter a real snake, or get an eerie feeling when they see an image of the reptile.
Every time you hear, see, or think of a trigger, your brain and amygdala processes it as something dangerous that has the potential to harm you. As a result, your entire bodily system gets put on high alert, which in turn makes you nervous and fearful. This trauma can hold you back in certain areas of your life, and can cause serious anxiety as you fear you may never be rid of it.
“You don’t know, what you don’t know”.
Trying to fight phobias without knowing the underlying causes is futile, as they’ll simply continue to surface time and time again. Fortunately, I can lend you a helping hand, and together we’ll unravel the causes of your inexplicable fears, whether they’re conscious or unconscious.
Most unconscious fears have deep, symbolic meanings, and can have a massive impact on your thoughts and feelings. These are directly associated with significant distress, increased interpersonal and professional conflicts, and greater levels of avoidance — but that’s not all. An individual is likely to display more defense mechanisms and defensiveness in response to a phobia with symbolic meaning, which can lead us to deceive ourselves as to the root cause.
In order to tackle and overcome these fears, I can help you see things that you’re unable to. With proper life coaching, you’ll become more aware of yourself, and together we’ll start to shed light on the ideas and experiences you’ve repressed. Once you know the root cause of your irrational fears, you’ll be all set to enjoy a life free of any and all dread.
